Why Traveling to Ho Chi Minh City is Great

There are a lot of Koreans

Within Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is particularly renowned for its large Korean population. Among them, Phu My Hung in District 7 is particularly known as Koi La Town, a densely populated area with Korean residents.

So, many companies that are familiar to Koreans are also entering the market.

It's a really convenient place for Koreans to travel, with everything from Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours to pharmacies where you can buy Korean medicine and even Korean-brand restaurants.

In particular, if you go to a certain cafe, it is almost always filled with Korean people, so there are times when it feels like you are in Korea.

Rice noodle restaurant

Pho is a favorite among Koreans, with many famous pho restaurants in Korea. If you enjoy Vietnam's signature cuisine, there's a very good chance your trip will be truly relaxing.

In fact, my son loves pho so much that he enjoys trying new pho every day, which I think made his trip to Ho Chi Minh even more enjoyable.

In Vietnam, the style of pho varies slightly from region to region. The pho in Ho Chi Minh City, in southern Vietnam, is characterized by a rich, deep broth and chewy, thick noodles.

I think that Ho Chi Minh's style of rice noodle goes well with Koreans.

Friendly Ho Chi Minh

Vietnamese people are generally very friendly. They are especially friendly toward Koreans, and quite a few of them can speak Korean.

If you visit Ben Thanh Market or Saigon Square, Ho Chi Minh City's shopping centers, you'll find yourself able to communicate comfortably without having to use any special English. While many Vietnamese people don't speak a word of English, there are also quite a few who can, making communication easier than you might expect.

Ho Chi Minh City's Bun Thit Nuong Restaurant: Locals Recommend Bibim Guksu Restaurants for Families in Their 40s

포킴흥의-자랑-분팃느헝

On their third trip to Vietnam, a family in their 40s chose a dish in Ho Chi Minh City instead of pho. We visited a restaurant called Bun Thit Nuong, a spicy noodle dish, and honestly reviewed it. We'll share the flavors and characteristics of Bun Thit Nuong, as well as tips for delicious restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City!

District 7 and Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is divided into districts, each with its own unique characteristics. The restaurant I'm introducing today is District 7 has a relaxed and modern atmosphere, unlike the bustling District 1, the center of Ho Chi Minh City. That's where it is.

In particular, in the 7th Army Phu My HungThere is a planned new city called , which has a clean and modern appearance and various amenities such as luxury apartment complexes, shopping malls, and international schools.

And this Phu My Hung is home to many Koreans, so there are many Korean restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, pharmacies, and other places where communication is possible in Korean, making it a convenient place for Korean travelers. This is also true.

베트남-7군지도

Kimheung Rice Noodles

District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, especially Phu My Hung, is home to a large Korean population, so there are quite a few restaurants that cater to the picky tastes of Koreans.

Kim Hung Pho is a local pho restaurant that satisfies the many demanding criteria, especially for cleanliness and palate, typical of Koreans. It's so famous that even my younger brother, who has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for quite some time, was the first to introduce me to its pho.

The first thing to understand is 🔎[Regional differences in pho styles in Vietnam] Go see the article. This place is a typical example of the southern style of rice noodles. I run this place. Through the YouTube channel <Traveling> You can check out Pokim Heung in the video.

포킴흥의-내부-모습
The interior is quite spacious and boasts high ceilings. An open kitchen, a rarity in Vietnam.

There are quite a few tables outside, so it's nice to eat outside, but no matter how cool it is, since it's Vietnam in Southeast Asia, I prefer to sit inside whenever possible.

Upon entering the hall, you'll find the high ceilings and cool interior tables, each with a large air conditioner in front, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The open kitchen is particularly welcoming, allowing you to dine with complete confidence.

포킴흥의-내부-모습
At lunchtime, almost all the tables are full.

Because this place is located in Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City's Koreatown, you'll see a lot of Koreans. I visited almost every Sunday, and every time, there were two or three tables occupied by Koreans.

This place is known for its rice noodles, but I prefer the spicy rice noodles called bun thit nuong. So I ordered the spicy rice noodles bun thit nuong, the po jin rice noodles, and tra da (a kind of tea popular among Vietnamese people).

포킴흥에서-제공되는-나물
If you order rice noodles, quite a few things are prepared for you.

When you order food, they bring out the following ingredients for the rice noodles: spicy chili peppers and lime to cut through the meaty smell of the rice noodles, boiled bean sprouts, and cilantro that looks moist and fresh.

You can add vegetables to suit your taste. I like to add three or four hot peppers along with the hosta, as it maintains the spicy and delicious flavor of the soup.

포킴흥의-쌀국수
Kimheung Rice Noodles' Pojin Rice Noodles

Kim Heung Rice Noodles is a delicious combination of clear meat broth, tender beef, and well-cooked rice noodles. The portion is generous, so one meal is enough to satisfy you.

In Korea, most places charge 10,000-15,000 won for a bowl of rice noodles, but here, the noodles cost only 75,000 dong (4,000 won). Yet, you can enjoy a satisfying meal that's incomparable to anything you'd find in Korea.

포킴흥의-자랑-분팃느헝
Kim Heung Rice Noodle Restaurant's pride, Bun Thit Nuong

The real highlight of Pokim Heung!

After trying Bun Tin Nuong while eating rice noodles, I always order this dish whenever I visit. It's difficult to compare rice noodles directly because there are so many famous restaurants. Ho Chi Minh City's Top 3 for Bun Thit Nuong It's clear what's inside.

Pho Kim Hung's rice noodles are actually just a tool to introduce this bun thit nuong. The bun thit nuong I first tried in Ho Chi Minh City is a flavor unlike any other I've experienced. The meat, with its slightly smoky aroma, is so delicious that you'll want to eat it on rice.

There's a dish called "geumseung," which is a dish where the same meat is placed on rice, but I haven't tried it yet. However, I'm confident that nothing can match the charm of this bun tit nuong. The vegetables inside are a perfect combination of cucumber, lettuce, carrots, and peanuts.

And the unidentified sauce lightly sprinkled on the bun ttang nueng makes it even more savory. The price is 95,000 dong.

Honest review, made with my own money

This is the restaurant that comes to mind every time I come to Phu My Hung during my trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

District 7 is home to a wealth of renowned Korean restaurants, but few can rival Kim Heung Pho's Bun Thit Nuong. If you're traveling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant.

However, for those who enjoy Korean food or frequently do banking in Phu My Hung, the story is a bit different. It's about a 40-minute Grab ride from Koreatown in District 7.

So, when you need to have Korean food delivered or move, you have to pay a taxi fare close to 20,000 won.

So if you need to order food from Koreatown for every meal or go out often, it might be a bit of a struggle, but if you need to organize your thoughts and work in a well-equipped place, this place is heaven.
