3. Vietnam Train Travel Tips

My wife, my middle school-aged son, and I boarded the Vietnam train from Nha Trang to Hanoi at 4:30 a.m. and arrived at 10:30 a.m. the next day. The journey took approximately 30 hours.

From now on, I will tell you about the inconveniences I experienced and some useful tips.

  • Prepare food
    • Be sure to prepare food
    • Buy some water and get on board!
    • There is a snack cart (simple snacks, mini banh mi, etc.) and a meal cart (around 40,000 VND) during meal times.

Some trains have dining cars and some don't, and the train I rode (a soft sleeper) didn't have a dining car. Be sure to prepare food in advance before boarding.You can do it. (Cup ramen, beverage, water, etc.)

  • Stop information
    • At some fairly large train stations (like Da Nang), the train stops for 10 minutes. There are shops at the stations, so you can get off and make purchases.
  • Air conditioning condition

To better compliment myself, I would first look back and ask myself, 'What did I do this year?'.

I am The job of a PD who produces programsI lived like that. I think I worked in everything from educational programs to variety shows and audition programs. That was until the company took a huge hit.

When the company took a hit and I left, I worked part-time until early this year, making documentaries. Normally, I'd only take on one, but I was busy taking on two at once. Meeting so many new people, interviewing them, and traveling all over the place, I felt like I hadn't felt this happy in a long time.

I ended up earning quite a bit of money that I had been spending for a while.

March-April

 

I've been talking about this trip with my family for years, so I've started clearing out everything in my house to prepare for it. Why are there so many things in every nook and cranny of the house?, There were many things to throw away and many things to sell.

Until the beginning of this year, my feelings hadn't changed much, but as I started organizing my belongings one by one, I began to feel like I was finally leaving, and at times, I felt anxious and worried. However, even greater than those feelings was excitement.

It was a time to bond more closely with my family, and I was also able to talk more with my wife about things I hadn't been able to talk about before.

We departed from Incheon International Airport on May 9th. Over the course of seven months until December, I traveled to a total of six countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hawaii, San Francisco, Seattle, etc.) and visited 18 cities.Did.

During those seven months, I fought a lot, almost had to return home after a long hiatus, lost my bag containing my camera gear, got locked out of my room with my keys, and even nearly fainted from a palm-sized cockroach.

But, despite all that, I'm back in Korea now. It's for my son, who chose to take the GED exam for his travels. I knew studying while traveling wouldn't be easy, but seeing it from up close, I realized it was much harder than I expected.

It's not easy to graduate in just 10 months from a degree that other friends study for three years. We've sold our house and are currently living with my mother-in-law, but we plan to move abroad again once my son finishes his exams.

A market open only on weekends in front of Waikiki Beach, Hawaii is a place where every day is a festival.

So what are you going to praise?

 

My family is a bunch of cowards.

  • Coward 1 (Dad)
    • I have a fear of English, so I'm extremely reluctant to talk to blonde-haired foreigners. This is a fatal flaw when traveling the world.

  • Coward 2 (Mom)
    • I have a fear of insects and heights. I nearly fainted after seeing a palm-sized cockroach in my Malaysian hotel, and I've nearly fainted several times while climbing the 272 steps of the Batu Caves.

  • Coward 3 (son)
    • They are so scared of flies and even the smallest bugs that they can't touch them. They are sensitive to sound, and even the slightest loud noise can cause them to panic or become frightened. They also spit out food if it doesn't suit their taste.

On a world tour where you never know what's going to happen, the fears of the cowards grow. Despite this, they traveled for seven months without any major issues and remained healthy. I believe this was largely due to Coward 1's role in keeping them safe and sound. Kudos!

Estelle Honest Review

 

My family, who has never been used to Malaysian food, must have eaten at Estelle more than 15 times during our 30-something year stay in Kuala Lumpur (KL).

I visited the place so often that I just took the bagels home to eat when I couldn't go there to eat there in person. I think it would be good to think of it as a good value restaurant.

한국에 있는 집과 모든 짐을 정리하고 기약없는 세계여행을 떠나기로 했다. 한참 공부 해야할 중학교에 입학한 아들도 함께다. 비행기를 타기로 한 날이 이제 약 30일이 안 남아서 그동안의 과정과 현재 상황에 대해 정리해 보려한다.

1. 세계여행을 떠나는 이유

  • 심장이 떨리는 일

필자의 직업은 콘텐츠 만드는 일이었다. 밤을 셀 때도 많았고 가족들과 함께 시간을 보내는 시간도 적었지만 이 일이 천직이라 생각하며 즐겁고 행복하게 10년 넘게 일했다.

하지만 언젠가부터 더이상 일하면서 즐겁지 않고 내 심장이 떨리지 않다는 것을 느꼈다.

이 세상에 그런 일이 어디있어? ‘다들 살기 위해 일하고 견디는 거지’라고 말할 수도 있다. 하지만, 나는 심장이 떨리는 일을 하면서 살아있다는 것을 느껴왔기 때문에 10년이 넘게 아무리 힘들고 어려워도 견딜 수 있었다.

그래서 심장이 떨리는 다른 일을 하고 싶다는 생각이 들었다. 내 나이 40이 넘어 새로운 인생을 살게 될 것이라 늘 생각해 왔다. 이제 그때가 왔음을 내 스스로가 인식했던 것 같다.

  • 한번 사는 인생

모든 사람의 삶은 한 번뿐이다. 그렇기에 내가 살아보고 싶은 삶을 살아야 한다. 누군가를 위해 혹은 나의 책임감을 위해 살기에는 되돌릴 수 없을만큼 소중하다. 그렇기에 난 떠나려고 한다.

마찬가지 의미로, 나뿐 아니라 아내와 아들의 삶이 소중하고 한 번뿐이기에 함께 떠나는 것이 맞다.

2. 현재 준비 상황

아무것도 남기지 않고 한국을 떠나기 위해 우리가 해야할 일이 생각보다 많다. 다음과 같은 것들을 체크해봐야 한다.

  • 주소이전

집을 남기지 않고 장기간 떠나기 때문에 그동안에 우리는 주소가 없다.

그러나 주민센터에 문의해보니, 우리가 장기간 해외로 여행을 가는 것을 증명하는 서류를 제출하면 우리가 한국을 비우는 동안에 주민센터로 주소를 이전하게 된다.

  • 예방접종

해외에서 오래 여행하려면 반드시 예방접종을 마쳐야 한다.

그래서 보건소에서 맞을 수 있는 주사들을 알아봤는데, 필자의 거주지 은평구청 보건소에서는 장티푸스 예방주사가 무료 접종 기간이기 때문에 무료로 맞을 수 있고 나머지 예방주사는 일반 병원에서 맞아야 한다.

  • 학교유예

대한민국에서 중학교는 의무교육에 해당한다. 그렇기에 1학년에 재학중인 아들을 데리고 세계여행을 하기 위해서는 유예신청서라는 것을 학교에 제출해야 한다.

아들은 중학교 과정 검정고시를 준비할 예정이다. 초등학교 6학년 때부터 아들의 의사를 물었지만, 다행히도 아직까지는 아빠 엄마와 여행가는 것을 동의해 주었다.

  • 여행용 카드만들기

외국도 요즘엔 신용카드를 어디서든 사용할 수 있기 때문에 외국에서 사용할 수 있는 신용카드를 잘 선택하면 삶이 매우 편리해질 수 있다.

심지어 꽤 비싼 카드 연회비를 낼지라도 충분히 그 돈을 회수하고도 남을 만큼말이다.

3. 출국날짜가 정해지다

우리가 출국하기로 한 날짜는 2024년 5월 9일 오전 9시 비행기다. 원래 계획은 3월 말이었으나, 언제나 우리의 계획은 계획한대로 된 적이 없었다.

생각지도 못한 필자의 임플란트 수술 일정과 4월 10일 총선의 영향으로 집이 팔리지 않는 등, 무작정 길어지고 한국에서의 지출만 늘어나자 어서 출국 날짜를 잡는 것이 중요했다.

  • 우리의 첫 여행지는?

우리의 첫 여행지를 선택하는 것은 쉽지 않았다. 대륙을 결정하는 것이 우선이었다. 여러가지 여행 경로 고민 끝에 동남아시아를 먼저 가기로 선택했다.

초보 여행자들에게 난이도가 높은 유럽여행으로 시작하는 것은 아무래도 부담스러웠기 때문이다. 동남아시아에서도 여행지의 선택은 좁혀지지 않았다.

아내는 말레이시아, 필자는 발리, 아들은 마카오를 가장 먼저 가고 싶은 나라로 선택했다. 결국 우리는 성경의 방법대로 각자 가고 싶은 나라가 적힌 종이를, 기도하고 제비뽑기 했다.

결국 우리의 첫 여행지는 volley가 되었다. 발리는 아내와 필자가 신혼여행으로 다녀온 장소였고 둘이서 처음 여행했던 발리를 셋이 여행할 수 있는 경험을 할 수 있게 되었다.

4. 앞으로의 계획

이제 한국에서의 모든 걸 정리하고 비행기를 탈 시간이 한 달 남았다. 그전까지는 떠난다는 생각에 크게 동요가 없었는데 티켓팅을 마치고 나니, 마음이 쿵쾅거리기 시작했다. 앞으로 정리해야 할 것들이 많이 남아있다.

MBTI 중 ENFP의 성향을 가진 세 가족이 모여 떠나는 아무런 계획없는 ‘무작정 세계여행‘이 기대되고 벌써부터 설렌다. 우리 가족의 모든 이야기는 [유튜브 채널 트래블중]을 통해 계속해서 업로드 될 예정이다.
