The State Library of Melbourne, a must-see attraction during your trip to Melbourne, captivates many with its magnificent exterior and old-world atmosphere.

On their third trip to Vietnam, a family in their 40s chose a dish in Ho Chi Minh City instead of pho. We visited a restaurant called Bun Thit Nuong, a spicy noodle dish, and honestly reviewed it. We'll share the flavors and characteristics of Bun Thit Nuong, as well as tips for delicious restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City!
District 7 and Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is divided into districts, each with its own unique characteristics. The restaurant I'm introducing today is District 7 has a relaxed and modern atmosphere, unlike the bustling District 1, the center of Ho Chi Minh City. That's where it is.
In particular, in the 7th Army Phu My HungThere is a planned new city called , which has a clean and modern appearance and various amenities such as luxury apartment complexes, shopping malls, and international schools.
And this Phu My Hung is home to many Koreans, so there are many Korean restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, pharmacies, and other places where communication is possible in Korean, making it a convenient place for Korean travelers. This is also true.
District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, with its relaxed and modern atmosphere
Kimheung Rice Noodles
District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, especially Phu My Hung, is home to a large Korean population, so there are quite a few restaurants that cater to the picky tastes of Koreans.
Kim Hung Pho is a local pho restaurant that satisfies the many demanding criteria, especially for cleanliness and palate, typical of Koreans. It's so famous that even my younger brother, who has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for quite some time, was the first to introduce me to its pho.
The interior is quite spacious and boasts high ceilings. An open kitchen, a rarity in Vietnam.
There are quite a few tables outside, so it's nice to eat outside, but no matter how cool it is, since it's Vietnam in Southeast Asia, I prefer to sit inside whenever possible.
Upon entering the hall, you'll find the high ceilings and cool interior tables, each with a large air conditioner in front, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The open kitchen is particularly welcoming, allowing you to dine with complete confidence.
At lunchtime, almost all the tables are full.
Because this place is located in Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City's Koreatown, you'll see a lot of Koreans. I visited almost every Sunday, and every time, there were two or three tables occupied by Koreans.
This place is known for its rice noodles, but I prefer the spicy rice noodles called bun thit nuong. So I ordered the spicy rice noodles bun thit nuong, the po jin rice noodles, and tra da (a kind of tea popular among Vietnamese people).
If you order rice noodles, quite a few things are prepared for you.
When you order food, they bring out the following ingredients for the rice noodles: spicy chili peppers and lime to cut through the meaty smell of the rice noodles, boiled bean sprouts, and cilantro that looks moist and fresh.
You can add vegetables to suit your taste. I like to add three or four hot peppers along with the hosta, as it maintains the spicy and delicious flavor of the soup.
Kimheung Rice Noodles' Pojin Rice Noodles
Kim Heung Rice Noodles is a delicious combination of clear meat broth, tender beef, and well-cooked rice noodles. The portion is generous, so one meal is enough to satisfy you.
In Korea, most places charge 10,000-15,000 won for a bowl of rice noodles, but here, the noodles cost only 75,000 dong (4,000 won). Yet, you can enjoy a satisfying meal that's incomparable to anything you'd find in Korea.
Kim Heung Rice Noodle Restaurant's pride, Bun Thit Nuong
The real highlight of Pokim Heung!
After trying Bun Tin Nuong while eating rice noodles, I always order this dish whenever I visit. It's difficult to compare rice noodles directly because there are so many famous restaurants. Ho Chi Minh City's Top 3 for Bun Thit Nuong It's clear what's inside.
Pho Kim Hung's rice noodles are actually just a tool to introduce this bun thit nuong. The bun thit nuong I first tried in Ho Chi Minh City is a flavor unlike any other I've experienced. The meat, with its slightly smoky aroma, is so delicious that you'll want to eat it on rice.
There's a dish called "geumseung," which is a dish where the same meat is placed on rice, but I haven't tried it yet. However, I'm confident that nothing can match the charm of this bun tit nuong. The vegetables inside are a perfect combination of cucumber, lettuce, carrots, and peanuts.
And the unidentified sauce lightly sprinkled on the bun ttang nueng makes it even more savory. The price is 95,000 dong.
※ For those who want to check the atmosphere of Ho Chi Minh Pho Kim Hung restaurant through video, Please check out my YouTube channelI'll give it to you.
Honest review, made with my own money
This is the restaurant that comes to mind every time I come to Phu My Hung during my trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
District 7 is home to a wealth of renowned Korean restaurants, but few can rival Kim Heung Pho's Bun Thit Nuong. If you're traveling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant.
Traveling to Ho Chi Minh City, VietnamWhen planning your stay and travels, it is very important to plan your stay and travels in Ho Chi Minh City, as each of its large districts has its own unique characteristics. So today, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, especially Vinhomes Grand ParkLet's learn about it.
Characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City area
Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam 24 districts consisting of 19 urban areas and 5 suburban areasIt is divided into districts, most of which are numbered (the districts called District 1 and District 3 serve as the city center), and some other districts have different district names.
So, let's take a closer look at what characteristics District 9 has among the many districts in Ho Chi Minh City and what Vinhomes Grand Park is like there.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Characteristics of the 9th Army
The 9th Army is the easternmost and largest of the regions divided into military districts as seen on the map, and is located far from the center. The fact that it is the largest and is grouped into one area means that it is still underdeveloped. This may also be the case.
This area used to be a rural area, but recently, with the construction of large apartment complexes, shopping malls, and office buildings, it has attracted the attention of Ho Chi Minh City residents and foreigners.
Vietnam's District 9 is home to a large-scale factory that produces Samsung Electronics smartphones and home appliances, and the company anticipates continued growth by continuously investing in and expanding production.
From a foreigner's perspective, it is a place where you can purchase luxury housing at a relatively low price compared to Districts 1 and 3, and it is a great place for a leisurely rest as there are many large parks and lakes.
Additionally, large shopping malls, hospitals, international schools, and other convenient facilities are continuously increasing.
Vincom Megamall in District 9 (getting ready for Christmas)
Vinhomes Grand Park
Vinhomes Grand Park, a large complex located in District 9, has attracted a lot of attention as it is a brand of Vingroup, a very famous company in Vietnam.
This massive apartment complex, which started out as Vinhomes City and has since been renamed Vinhomes Grand Park, is accepting residents, but due to its large size, there are still quite a few units that are unoccupied.
A view of Vinhomes Grand Park
Stepping outside the complex surrounded by Vinhomes Grand Park, you'll discover a truly local Vietnamese neighborhood and market. It feels like a completely different world.
Within walking distance of Vinhomes Grand Park is Vincom Megamall, Vietnam's largest shopping center. Because the complex is so large, you can take advantage of a free shuttle bus that travels around the complex.
Starbucks inside Vinhomes Grand Park
Each complex has a large swimming pool available for use, and the first floor is clean and conveniently maintained with various convenience stores and amenities open 24 hours a day, as well as Starbucks, GS25, and Lotteria.
Can I get accommodations in the 9th Army?
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is a city with a truly well-developed infrastructure suitable for Koreans. In District 7, Phu My Hung, you can deposit and withdraw money at any Shinhan Bank branch on the street.
Also, because most people can understand Vietnamese or English, and because it is a place where you can see more Korean products than in a Korean convenience store.
So, what about District 9? Having lived in Vinhomes Grand Park in District 9 for two weeks now, I feel like my choice was a good one.
This is because you can walk to the Vincom Megamall shopping center in the evening, and there is infrastructure in place to take care of all your daily needs without having to go far, such as Starbucks and a barber shop.
Vinhomes Grand Park at night with its colorful lights and fountains in operation.
However, for those who enjoy Korean food or frequently do banking in Phu My Hung, the story is a bit different. It's about a 40-minute Grab ride from Koreatown in District 7.
So, when you need to have Korean food delivered or move, you have to pay a taxi fare close to 20,000 won.
So if you need to order food from Koreatown for every meal or go out often, it might be a bit of a struggle, but if you need to organize your thoughts and work in a well-equipped place, this place is heaven.
District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vinhomes Grand Park Reviews
I've lived in various neighborhoods during my three visits to Ho Chi Minh City. However, this is my first time in District 9. While I find it appealing for its diverse advantages, convenience, and cleanliness, there are also a number of inconveniences.
However, District 9, which is still developing with new buildings, is also exciting to see how much more development it will undergo in the future. Starting with Eagle, I plan to review more diverse areas of Ho Chi Minh City.

Before reading this article, Discover Sydney in vivid videodo!
The Opera House, a landmark of Sydney, is so densely packed with attractions that you'll find yourself seeing it over and over again, even if you don't make time to visit it.
Many tourists take pictures of the Opera House due to its beautiful architecture. You can see it at any time. And when the sun sets, many tourists sit down at nearby restaurants to watch the view and chat.
A view of the beautiful Sydney Opera House
Here are two ways to enjoy the Opera House more vividly.
First, at the opera house How to see a show you'll remember forever, secondly, while walking around the opera house here and there How to take a tour in Korean (or English, of course)no see.
Both of these can be found through the links below.
I recommend visiting the Royal Botanic Gardens, located right next to the Sydney Opera House. Australia has a wealth of well-developed parks, and this one is one of them. The Royal Botanic Gardens is a place loved by many people even within Australia.no see.
The sea is right next to the park It is pleasant because the cool breeze keeps blowing, so it is good for taking a walk, and you can spend a peaceful time lying on the green lawn and healing through nature. You can have time to do it.
The peaceful and beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens
Because it is so large, it is best to wear the most comfortable walking shoes you can find. You can avoid the sun under the shade of the trees, but on bright days, you can get sunburned, so we recommend bringing sunglasses and applying sunscreen.
3. If you're visiting Sydney on the weekend, check out The Rocks Market and its coffee shops.
If you happen to be visiting Sydney over the weekend, I highly recommend visiting The Rocks Markets.
‘The area called 'The Rocks' was used by the British as a place to exile criminals when they established Australia as a colony, and it is said that this was the first place where many convicts and British people settled when they came to Australia.
So naturally It is a place where European-style architecture is preserved and the unique culture and atmosphere of the Dorothys region are preserved. A flea market is held on weekends.
Selling items, accessories, art, clothing, etc. that symbolize the regionOn one side, food is prepared, creating a festival-like atmosphere.
The Rocks Market, bustling with people and a vibrant atmosphere
Of course, given Australia's high cost of living, the prices of items sold at flea markets are also quite high. However, it's a fun place with a unique atmosphere. If you're visiting Sydney on the weekend, I highly recommend a visit.

4. Queen Victoria Building in the CBD
The CBD (Central Business District), a common sight in Australia, is the central business district and represents the heart of Sydney, Australia. The CBD boasts a wide variety of attractions, including Central Station, the State Library, and Chinatown.
So, if you are traveling to Sydney, the CBD is a must-visit place.
The most famous and sought-after of these is the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), often called 'the most beautiful shopping centre in the world'.
The beautiful view of the Queen Victoria Building
In Sydney Isn't this the building with the most spectacular exterior?
furthermore The interior also retains the appearance of a royal palace, making it a place so beautiful that you can't take your eyes off it, from the stained glass in the hallway windows to the antique elevator.no see.
The ceiling, in particular, is made of glass to allow natural light in, creating distinct atmospheres on the first, second, and third floors. The clock tower atop the building also boasts an elegant appearance.
Highly recommended if you like taking pictures! It's a popular spot for taking photos in elegant dresses or formal attire. Therefore, it's a must-see if you're visiting the CBD.

Queen Victoria Building
This building was built in the Romanesque architectural style to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria's coronation in 1898, and was used as a palace by Queen Victoria when she visited Australia.
Called the most beautiful shopping center in the world
5. Crossing the Harbour Bridge (seeing North Sydney)
The Sydney Harbour Bridge, along with the Sydney Opera House, are two of the world's most iconic landmarks. Crossing the Harbour Bridge and seeing it for yourself, A chance to take a photo of the beautiful Opera House from the Harbour Bridge. This is also true.
To cross the Harbour Bridge, you need to go to North Sydney. North Sydney has many beautiful and quiet buildings and upscale cafes, making it a great place to spend time looking at the beautiful scenery.
Harbour Bridge seen from North Sydney
North Sydney also has some delicious fish and chips restaurants, so be sure to try them. After enjoying a delicious meal and a cup of tea, it's time to cross the Harbour Bridge.
The Harbor Bridge is easily accessible, with an elevator connecting the bridge and the entire length being flat. People also enjoy jogging and dog walking.
Pedestrian walkway on the Harbour Bridge
However, the wind from the sea and the cars can make it chilly, so it's recommended to wear light clothing. Take a photo of yourself with the Opera House on the beautiful Harbour Bridge.
6. Life Shot at Jeffrey Station
If you're serious about taking a great photo, you should definitely visit this place, which offers a great view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
In fact, the best photo opportunities with landmarks aren't right in front of the Opera House, but across the water. The same goes for the Harbour Bridge.
Jeffrey Street, a viewpoint overlooking the Harbour Bridge and Opera House
So the place I recommend is Milsons Point.
This is the best place to view the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, and if you take a picture of it with the ship docked right in front called Jeffreys Station, you can take a lot of impressive photos.
Even those who are not particularly interested in photography can learn from this point. Take a dip in the ocean and admire the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in harmony with the calmly flowing sea.is one of my favorite things to do.
7. Taronga Zoo
I was always curious about how fascinating the animals I could encounter in Australia, a country renowned for its pristine nature. To satisfy these travelers' expectations, Sydney alone boasts three or four zoos.
but Taronga Zoo is renowned for having the largest animal population and being the closest and most accessible zoo to Sydney's city centre. That's why the view of downtown Sydney from the zoo is also famous for its beauty.
We recommend arriving at the zoo early, in time for opening time (9:30 AM). The animals nap in the afternoon and are less active, so it's best to visit during their feeding time in the morning.
Taronga County is home to a variety of animals, including koalas, kangaroos, and pelicans.
The back gate is just a three-minute walk away, so walking is a great option. While there are various on-site family discounts, purchasing your tickets in advance online is also convenient and recommended.
and An event where you can enter the zoo for $1 if you visit on your birthday. Also, if you have a family member whose birthday is during your travel itinerary, it's a good idea to time your visit accordingly.
8. Explore Bondi Beach, Icebergs Pool, and the surrounding beaches.
If you want to enjoy swimming in Sydney, I recommend Bondi Beach.합니다. 본다이 비치는 오랫동안 시드니 사람들에게 사랑받는 곳인데요. 파도가 좋고 주변 경관이 아름다워 평일에도 많은 여행객들로 붐비는 곳입니다.
I also frequent the recently popular Iceberg Club, where you can swim in a saltwater pool overlooking the ocean. (I recommend visiting on a nice day – it's cold.)
A view of Icebergs with Bondi Beach
Swimming in the calm, wave-free ocean waters offers another unique attraction. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children. Guests can use the restrooms, showers, sauna, and gym ($40).
Because it's a place with a lot of sea breeze, it's very cold unless it's a sunny day. So, check the weather forecast in advance and visit on a warm, preferably hot, day.It would be good if you could do that.
Some people prefer the ocean view to swimming. From Bondi Beach, there's a walking path that follows the coastline, offering breathtaking views of the ocean.
You'll be captivated by the beauty of Australia, witness breathtaking sights, and admire the wonders of nature alongside artworks on display along the coastline.
9. Manly Beach
If you want to try something a little different in Sydney, I recommend Menly Beach.
This is a popular beach for Australians, offering a variety of attractions. Manly Beach, with its strong winds and rough waves, is a popular destination for surfing.
The Manly harbour, where the ferry arrives, is a great place for sunbathing or light water play, as the waves and wind are calm. The beach right in front of the ferry Starbucks, after exiting the station and passing several shops, offers a different feel.
Manly Beach has quite rough waves and you can see signs warning of sharks.
Lifeguards guard the dangerous beach with rough waves, and the waves are so strong that swimming is difficult.
so Most people just sit and watch the waves or dip their feet in the water.I'm enjoying it. It's a difficult place to swim.
However, there are plenty of fish and chips and delicious burrito restaurants around this beach. Enjoying a delicious meal while gazing at the ocean and enjoying the nearby flea market are other fun aspects of this beach.
10. Paddy's Market in Chinatown
The last place I recommend is Paddy's Market located in Chinatown.
There is definitely one in every country. It is a place like a souvenir market, and many tourists love it because it is a place where you can buy various counterfeit products and Australian souvenirs at very cheap prices.no see.
The exterior of Paddy's Market has a certain feel to it, but the interior is even more so.
It's actually a great place to browse if you're looking to buy souvenirs or cheap items, as they're sold at much cheaper prices than what you'd find at a typical downtown souvenir shop.
In traditional markets like this, many only accept cash, but Paddy's Market has the advantage of allowing you to purchase conveniently because many places accept cards.
In closing
This trip made me realize why so many people love and desire to visit Australia, especially Sydney. I hope you enjoy your trip to Australia, following the itinerary I've personally recommended.

The most mysterious place in Malaysia is Penang's street art street.
Features of traveling in Malaysia
I'm currently traveling the world with my teenage son, so we've been to many countries, but especially Malaysia offers 90-day travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, etc.(You can check it out on the YouTube channel @traveljoong.)
I would like to record the honest feelings I had while traveling in Malaysia for the benefit of Koreans who visit this country in the future.
Malaysia is a great place to travel
exotic country
Malaysia is one of the most exotic travel destinations, yet it is close to our country.Although it is located very close to our country, the buildings built during the European invasion create the illusion of being in Europe.
Additionally, their clothing culture (hijab) and food culture (halal food), which are formed within the Islamic cultural sphere, are also very unique.
※ Halal food(Halal Food)
Halal food refers to food permitted according to Islamic law.It must be manufactured, distributed, processed, etc. in accordance with Islamic law and must not contain pork, alcohol, non-Islamic slaughtered meat, or their ingredients.
Religious characteristics
In particular, because of their religious beliefs, they He rarely drinks alcohol and absolutely hates being involved in bad crimes. Therefore, you will not see drunk and violent people, which you can easily see at tourist destinations.
It is also a country so quiet that no matter how many times you cut in on the road, you won't hear anyone honking their horn.
Jonker Walk Street, Malacca's Chinatown
economic development
Of course, there are countries in Southeast Asia like Singapore that have developed into developed nations. However, the image of Southeast Asia still evokes images of developing countries in need of further development. Of course, I felt the same way before my trip to Malaysia.
I used to think Malaysia was a very underdeveloped country, but that's not the case at all. Especially in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. There are skyscrapers lined up that rival Seoul's and there is more economic development than we can imagine.was achieved.
Kuala Lumpur's downtown area is lined with enormous skyscrapers.
cultural diversity
Malaysia is made up of Malays, Chinese, and Indians who originally lived in this land. Therefore, the government is trying to lead diverse races and ethnicities. Policies that recognize and embrace their cultural diversityis unfolding.
As a result, various ethnicities and races have come together to form a culture, which in turn has led to a diverse culinary scene. There's even a term for dishes prepared by Chinese settlers in Malaysia using local ingredients.
Malaysian food as perceived by Koreans
If I had to describe Malaysian food in one word, 'It's tasteless'If you travel to different countries, you will find places that sell Korean food in each country.
I admit that there are limitations to creating a Korean taste using local ingredients. Especially, all the food, including Korean food, in Malaysia is tasteless.
Nasi lemak (coconut rice, not white rice) at a high-end Malaysian restaurant
Why does Starbucks coffee taste like this?
You might be thinking, 'How can I say this?' but I generally enjoy almost any food, and I don't have any prejudices against food from other countries.
However, the food here wasn't easy to match.
malaysia Nasi Lemak, the signature dishFrom Starbucks coffee, McDonald's, and even chicken from fast food restaurants all taste bad.. ‘It's enough to make you wonder, "How can someone make food like this with the same ingredients?" (This is just my impression.)
The author's request
It's easy to think of it as akin to foreigners finding the soybean paste stew, cheonggukjang, and fermented skate that we enjoy so deliciously difficult to prepare.
However, while our country has foods like bibimbap, tteokbokki, bulgogi, and samgyeopsal that suit the tastes of people from other countries, it seems like Malaysia doesn't even have those foods.
I am preparing for a trip to Malaysia and IIf you are very sensitive to food and scents I think you can feel deep in your bones what I mean. It's best to come to Malaysia prepared for the food.
Malacca City Restaurant
I feel like I've been too negative about Malaysian food. But not all of it was like that. If I had to name just one restaurant that I found most delicious, it would be Sae Da Restaurant in Malacca.
In a country where Islam is the state religion A place where you can enjoy delicious pork without worry in a country where pork is hard to come by.This is right here.
If you eat the skewers with rice, you can easily end up with over 20 per person.
Right here A restaurant called Beh Leh Hainam SatayAlthough it is about 10 minutes away by car from the Malaysian Dutch Square, it is popular with many Koreans. Word of mouth spread and the store had a menu in Korean (A4 paper)It is enough to have .
If you're traveling to Malacca, I highly recommend trying this dish. It's reasonably priced and delicious! For more information about this restaurant, please visit🔎[Honest Review of a Satay Restaurant in Malacca]You can check it through .
A 40-something dad's overall review of Malaysian food
Malaysia is a multi-ethnic and multi-racial nation, so even a visit to a shopping mall food court offers a truly diverse menu. However, for picky Koreans or those with young palates, the food can be challenging to adapt to.
For a man in his 40s who believes that food is the most powerful medium for travel, Malaysia was less impressive in many ways. Even in Penang, known as the city of gastronomy. Is there something wrong with my taste?
※ Please understand that my thoughts and feelings about Malaysian food are entirely my own and that you may disagree or have different opinions.

So you When looking for accommodation in Penang, it is best to stay in Georgetown.

2. Straits Garden Suites Jelutong Georgetown Information
Straits Garden Suites Jelutong, where I stayed for two weeks in Penang, stood out as it was one of the tallest buildings in the area. It looked clean and tidy. Convenience stores, Japanese and Korean restaurants, KFC, and other surrounding infrastructure on the first flooris well equipped.
Perhaps because Penang has a large Chinese Malaysian population, it seems like a lot of Chinese people use it. There were many places with red lanterns hanging outside the front door, a common sight among Chinese people.

The entrance is on the first floor, guarded by security. Access is by swiping your accommodation card. After verifying your identity and entering your personal information, you receive a card key. Elevators require swiping your card to operate.
However, to enter the accommodation, you must open the outer iron gate and the front door with a key. This may be inconvenient, but The inconvenience of having to carry your keys around with youThere is silver.
The interior of the accommodation is clean and well-organized, although it feels old.
A big plus for long-term travelers is the presence of a washing machine. It was because I was traveling the world with my teenage son and needed a place to do laundry.
Besides, there was no reason not to choose a microwave that could compete with Malaysian food, which doesn't have many options to suit one's taste.
3. Amenities and surrounding information
The hotel features an indoor pool, a gym, and a table tennis court, making it a great place to exercise with your son. However, as Malaysia's state religion is Muslim, I saw quite a few people swimming in hijabs.
I recommend avoiding the Korean restaurant on the first floor if possible. The first time I went, I was disappointed with the food, and I found something in my food, so I never went back.
The Japanese restaurant It's a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but the price per piece of sushi is cheap, so it's a good place to eat something simple, like eating triangle kimbap at a convenience store.(Don't expect the food to taste the same everywhere in Malaysia.)
There are amenities such as a gym and table tennis room on the pool floor.
Honest review of Penang travel Airbnb accommodation
In fact, this The accommodation was very comfortable and nice, and it was fine. Initially, I cited distance as a problem, but Grab taxi fares in Penang are so cheap that it only costs about 3,000 won at most. So, this much can be paid sufficiently.
Plus, there's a bus that goes directly to Georgetown from across the street in front of Hongneung Bank. The distance isn't bad, and the facilities are decent. But aside from a major problem...
Georgetown City, where you can feel the beauty of Penang
Honest review
Our trip to Penang was incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling, except for the unexpected issues we encountered with our accommodations. The beautiful surroundings, the exotic landscapes scattered throughout, and the friendly people made for a truly joyful experience.
However, if I were to travel to Penang again, I'd choose somewhere a little closer to Georgetown. It's a shame to pay for something so bland, so I'd choose accommodations near a shopping mall, where I can always enjoy clean, comfortable food.
The biggest concern when traveling to the US, Tipping culturecast 20 years of experienceI learned from him. 17-day family trip to Hawaii/USA I experienced it firsthand during No tip calculation mistakesHow to do it in 10 secondsclass Budget-friendly dining tips to save moneyis now released.
How to Calculate Tips When Traveling in the US
I'm traveling the world with my teenage son. We decided to visit the United States and Hawaii, and the biggest concern was actually the financial aspect. Since I have to pay for every meal, I couldn't help but be concerned about tipping.
미국에서 여행하는 17일 동안 비싼 물가와 팁 속에서 어떻게 절약하며 여행했고 팁을 줘야 하는 식당에서는 어떻게 팁을 계산해야 하는지를 정리 해보려고 한다.

1. Restaurants in the US where tipping is required
If you've ever eaten at a restaurant in the United States, you probably know that tipping is a must. That's because tipping is the primary source of income for those providing service.
So if you don't tip,‘I think it means that you are very dissatisfied with your service.‘' is done.
A Hawaiian restaurant where tipping is mandatory
Restaurants in Hawaii and the US where tipping is required Includes all restaurants that come to each table with a menu, take orders, and serve food.Yes. Usually, in these restaurants, you have to tip between 15% and 25%, and the choice is up to the customer.
A restaurant in a Portland hotel in the United States
The restaurant above is the breakfast restaurant of a hotel I stayed at in Portland, Oregon. In South Korea, tipping is not required when eating breakfast included in a hotel restaurant, but in the United States, it's different.
Although I was aware of American tipping culture, I had no idea that tipping was even required at hotel breakfast restaurants. This is likely to be a confusing prospect for Koreans traveling to the US for the first time.
In American restaurants, you can pay by card and choose to tip, but here, I didn't have to pay separately, so I finished eating. Most people leave a tip of about $5 in cash on the table. It was.
2. Restaurants where you don't have to tip
but, There are also tip-free restaurants in the US.Here it is. First of all, it is a fast food restaurant that you are all familiar with.
For example, most restaurants such as McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, and IN & OUT have customers come in and order, and when it is their turn, they have to take their own food and clean up after they finish eating.
I've often wondered if this difference in tipping might be one of the reasons Americans flock to fast-food restaurants so often. It seems clear that tips make up a significant portion of their economy.
In these cases, restaurants are free from tipping. You pay at the place where you pay. Tip BoxHowever, in my case, I have never received exceptionally good service or felt friendly at these fast food restaurants, so I have never tipped.
Inside Marugame Udon, a popular restaurant in Hawaii
The photo above is a very famous restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is Marugame Udon. In this restaurant, customers have to stand in line to order, get their food, sit at a table, and even clean up after themselves.
A restaurant that is not only delicious but also reasonably priced so you don't have to spend money on tipping. That's why I ate at this restaurant once a day.
When traveling in the United States, you can't always eat at restaurants where tipping isn't required.
Sometimes we need to have a meal or a drink at a nice restaurant or a pub with an American feel, and that's when we ‘How can I tip appropriately without offending the other person?‘I start to think about it.
I heard some very sensible advice from my brother, who has lived in the US for 20 years and currently lives in San Francisco with his family, and it was so clear that I wanted to share it with other confused travelers to the US like me.
Choose one of 15%, 18%, or 25%
When paying by card, you're usually given a choice of one of the percentages listed above. Deciding which one to choose can be daunting, but the choice is surprisingly simple.
First, I tell them If you received satisfactory service or felt the service was very friendly, you can choose the 18% tip line. However, in all other cases, you can choose the 15% tip line without hesitation. You can do it.
(Food price + service charge / tax) 15%? Is this correct?
Koreans vaguely know that in the US, a tip is supposed to be around 10-15%.
However, it is a very sensitive issue for the giver to tip 15%, which is the price including service charge and tax, and to tip 15%, which is the price of the food.
And most restaurants only offer the 15%, 18%, and 25%, which naturally include service charge and tax.
For those who don't know much, they will choose 15% and 18% without any resistance and also don't know which one is the problem.
Food ordered at an American restaurant
However, according to my younger brother who has lived in the US for 20 years, ‘'Paying 15%, the price of the meal excluding service charge and tax, is the most reasonable, and there is no problem calculating and paying the tip that way.'’He says confidently.
In most cases, Users can also input their own tips without selecting the three preset tips%.. So, you can calculate the exact price of the food (15%) and add the service charge, tax, etc. to pay the tip.
It wasn't a problem at all, even though my brother and I continued to pay like that while traveling in the US.
Example) If $150 (food price) + $30 (service/tax), then $150 x 0.15 = $22.5 Add $150 (food price) + $30 (service/tax) + $22.5 (tip 15%) to pay $202.5You can do it.
Know the exact calculation method and give tips
You can choose one of the three preset tip options and give a comfortable tip. Perhaps you can even give more than 25% to receive the best service without resorting to the complicated calculations above.
However, the reason why I shared the calculation method above is It means that you should know and give tips even if you give too much.am.
I'm writing this because I don't know how much I should tip or what an appropriate tip level is, and I hope that people don't give tips without knowing that the restaurant has already calculated the tip with tax added to it.

Isn't this the very reason why I still miss and remember Malacca so fondly, even after a day trip?
